Welcome

Welcome to all our families, both new and existing.

At Stocksfield Avenue Primary School, we understand that family life and parenting can sometimes be challenging. We are here to support you with any concerns or worries you may have about your child, whether these relate to school, home, attendance, behaviour or wellbeing.

Our aim is to work alongside families in a supportive, confidential and impartial way. You do not have to have all the answers—we are here to listen, help you explore your concerns and, where appropriate, connect you with the right support.

Our Team

Mrs Godfrey – Inclusion Lead, SENDCO and Assistant Headteacher

Mrs Godfrey leads on inclusion and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) across school.

Mrs Ellis – Attendance Lead

Mrs Ellis leads on attendance and works with families and staff to promote good attendance and support children to attend school regularly.

Lyndsay McMenzie – Family Support and Attendance Officer

Lyndsay is our Family Support and Attendance Officer and is here to support families with a wide range of issues relating to school, home, attendance, behaviour and wellbeing.

Lyndsay works closely with families where attendance is a concern. She monitors attendance, meets with parents and carers, carries out home visits where appropriate and works with families to identify and overcome barriers to regular school attendance.

How We Can Support You

Our family support and attendance service can help with a range of concerns, including:

• Linking with school to share concerns or worries about your child, including supporting you to attend school meetings.
• Supporting parents and carers with behaviour at home and at school.
• Providing 1:1 support for children and young people around issues such as self-esteem, friendships, bullying and family relationships.
• Supporting families where there are concerns about attendance or barriers preventing children from attending school regularly.
• Signposting families to services and support in and around Newcastle, including information about holiday and after-school activities.
• Helping parents and carers to complete forms, including housing and SEND-related paperwork.
• Providing information about training, workshops and opportunities for personal and career development, including sessions available in school.
• Being someone to talk to when you need a listening ear.

Support with Attendance

Regular school attendance is important for your child's education, wellbeing and development. If attendance is becoming difficult, please talk to us as early as possible.

Lyndsay will work with you to understand what may be affecting your child's attendance and help identify practical ways forward. This may include meetings with parents and carers, telephone support, home visits and signposting to other services where appropriate.

We are here to support, not judge, and working together with families is at the heart of our approach.

Where We Can Meet

Lyndsay can meet with families at school or at home, depending on what is most appropriate and comfortable for you.

All support is confidential and impartial, within the usual safeguarding responsibilities of school. Lyndsay may not have all the answers, but she will do her best to help you find the right support.
