No Outsiders

The No Outsider's vision is for an inclusive education, which promotes community cohesion and prepare young people and adults for life as global citizens. We have embedded the 'No Outsiders' ethos at Stocksfield Avenue Primary School in all aspects of life. This ensures our school is an inclusive place for all, where no child or member of our community will be treated as an outsider.

No Outsiders is an important part of our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum and enhances our teaching of the core theme, Relationships. It is taught through a series of picture books addressing the different areas of the Equality Act. One PSHE lesson per half term is dedicated to delivering these books. The books are developmentally appropriate texts and cover a range of areas from the protected characteristics of the Equality Act: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. In addition, we have dedicated assemblies which support and explore related topics and promote the inclusive ethos. Also, all school staff promote and recognise the No Outsiders ethos as part of the school day. Through discussion and activities, pupils are encouraged to show respect and develop their understanding of diversity.
